Three lesser-known city breaks that are gonna be hugely popular in 2019

If you haven't started planning your city breaks for 2019, you'd wanna hurry up, like. Just kidding, don't hurry up - if you do you'll end up spending an outrageous amount of money on flights because Ryanair haven't announced a sale yet and honestly, isn't that the only reason any of us ever go on a city break? (It is.) Still though, there's no harm in having a think about the future, where you might like to go, and what you might want to do. So on that note, here are three less-known city breaks that are tipped to be fairly popular next year. You may make your travel plans accordingly. 1. Riga, Latvia Riga is huge lately, everyone's heading off. The capital of Latvia, the city is full of interesting culture, impressive canals, and stunning architecture. Riga is also the largest city in the three Baltic states so you know you won't be stuck for some bits to do either. The Central Market is a must-visit spot where tourists can buy everything from cheese to sausage to bread. There's also an abundance of bars around the place that would put your typical hipster Dublin pub to shame. You haven't drank out of a jam jar until you've drank out of a jam jar in Riga. 2. Tallinn, Estonia Estonia's capital city, Tallinn has been driving tourists in ever since they hosted the Eurovision a few years back... and maybe before then too. Who knows? If there's one thing you'd want to know about Tallinn before you book your flights, it's that it's super Instagrammable. Like, ridiculously so. The architecture, the parks, the streets - it's a wanna be travel blogger's haven and you'd be a fool not to add approx 30 pics to your Story while you're there. The city has also got an impressive number of bars and clubs for its size, so you can chill out with some culture during the day, and then get a few pints into you at night. Ideal. 3. Basel, Switzerland Basel might be Switzerland's third most populous city, but it's got to be the most popular place in terms of relaxation and just chilling out to the max. The spot is a green city, meaning that it's got a load of parks, a stunning botanical gardens, and a beautiful zoo. Basel is also situated along the Rhine, making those river banks absolutely perfect for sitting around and doing nothing. If you're planning on making a trip to Basel for a bit of a mad one though - don't. This place has got a museum on every corner and is far more well known for its greenery than its bars. Still though, we're absolutely sticking it on our list for 2019.
