Tired of spending money getting your pedicure done in the salon only to have a chip in one of your nails the next day? Or maybe you just fancy a night to yourself during the week that won’t make you feel guilty.
Whatever the reason, it’s good to have a healthy, but enjoyable, night in from time to time. Before you even think about it, there is wine and food involved.
This week we’re opting for a quiet night filled with pampering and finished off with a bottle of Black Tower wine and a delicious salad.
For your homemade pedicure all you need is a bath or basin filled with warm soapy water or bubble bath, a pumice stone, some moisturising cream, a nail file and your favourite nail polish colour.
Soak your feet for at least 10 minutes in a warm bath or basin (feel free to have a glass of wine while you wait). Dry them off using a clean towel before using your pumice stone to remove any dry or loose skin from the bottom of your feet.
When this is done give yourself a foot massage using a moisturising cream (feel free to get your other half to do this part!). File your nails down and then get to work with the nail polish. Remember to use a base and top coat to get the best results.
After your pedicure, put your gorgeous feet up and enjoy a glass of wine with our tasty but healthy salad: The Waldorf Salad with a creamy buttermilk dressing.
Ingredients: Lettuce, 1 diced apple, 2 tablespoons sliced celery, 1 grilled chicken breast sliced, 2 tablespoons chopped almonds. (For the dressing: ¾ cups buttermilk, ¼ cup soybean oil mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, minced chives, chopped parsley, salt and pepper.)
Method: Throw all the ingredients into the bowl and cover with the sauce which can be made by whisking the ingredients together and seasoning. (Refrigerate the remaining dressing for up to three days.)
