It’s not everyday you find yourself on the sixth floor of a fancy Dublin hotel, in the room of an International rugby star. Is this a dream?
The answer to that is no, sadly however it was strictly business.
Her.ie caught up this week with Irish sporting legend (and heart-throb) Tommy Bowe about where it all began back in Monaghan and his big dream for the future, with a bit of fashion, food and fangirls thrown in between.

Tommy Bowe doing what he does best, playing with his ball...
Long before Bowe started off his career with the pill-ball and secured his place as a winger on the Ireland team, he played Gaelic for Emyvale, his local GAA club in Monaghan.
Bowe represented his county at U-16 and minor level and followed this year’s Monaghan Senior team’s All-Ireland journey closely.
“I was devastated I couldn’t go to any of the matches," Bowe said.
"Obviously I was in Australia with the Lions, then got back I went on Holidays and they had got to the final, then of course I had to miss the Tyrone match because I was at a bloody wedding in Glasgow.”
We’re not too fond of weddings either Tommy, don’t worry.

“Back when I was playing, Monaghan weren’t a team to be reckoned with at all and to be winning Ulster champions and go to the level that they are now is great to see.”
Although Bowe missed the games, he always made sure to watch the highlights, so did he agree with Sunday Game Live pundit Joe Brolly’s comments regarding Tyrone after that controversial All-Ireland Quarter-final match, that seen reigning Ulster champs, Monaghan, defeated by two points?
"I thought he was good, he is a very passionate guy."
"I’ve met Joe a couple of times, and I think that I would agree with a lot of the things that he said that day," Bowe said smiling as he added that Brolly maybe went just a tad overboard but it made for great television.

The kids love him too...
The 29-year-old joins a line-up of global sporting heroes for Subway Famous Fans endorsing the company’s brand new selection low-fat healthy meals.
“As a sports person it’s all about healthy eating and trying to stay in shape.” Just so you know ladies, he looks in great shape. Amazing shape. The best shape we’ve ever seen.
“Subway have a range of very healthy subs and salads, it’s a case of trying to get it out and encourage people to lead a healthier lifestyle and eat healthy food.”

Hello boys...
When asked if he’d follow in the footsteps of Irish Olympian David Gillick and try his hand a Celebrity Master Chef, Bowe reminisced about his time on RTÉ’s hit show The Restaurant.
“Unfortunately I only got two stars, sometimes you try these things and you when you fail, I think it’s really time to take the hint.”
Tommy “tried” to cook the perfect chicken roast recently and although he managed to cook the bird and potatoes all right, the same can’t be said for the remainder of the meal.
“I fried the veg, they were cremated, the gravy I struggled with that big time, it came out all lumpy, so I don’t think you’ll be getting a Sunday roast off me at the minute.”
Tommy, we’d settle for beans and toast love.

Tommy Bowe the successful shoe collection with Lloyd and Pryce.
And for the ladies who love a man in good shoes, Tommy was sporting a pair of burgundy ‘Woods’ from his own line with Lloyd and Pryce. Even his shoes are as lovely as he is.
“It’s great to see people walking own the street and spotting people out of the corner of my eye wearing my shoes.”
“They’re going really well and I think we’re hoping to branch out in to the clothing market soon as well,” he added.
So ladies, you may not be able to have the real thing, but soon you could meet a man decked out in his clothing and shoes.
Bowe returned to the Ulster squad last year, after a four-year stint with Welsh club, Ospreys and has huge Heineken Cup dreams.
“You play with Ireland and you play with the Lions, you come together with those guys for limited stretch of time, the rest of the time you’re with your province and with your teammates there and you build a real bond with these guys and I would love to be successful with them.”
Our favourite Tommy Bowe moment... What about her eyes?!
Our favourite Bowe moment to date has to be the winger’s version of 'The Black Velvet Band' after winning the Grand Slam back in 2009, however that is something he doesn’t plan to repeat anytime soon. “I’ve learnt my lesson there,” he joked.
“Awk of course when I’ve had too many beers I do enjoy a bit of a sing song but I have the worst voice ever.”

You've got yourself a few fangirls there, Tommy.
When asked about THAT amazing picture taken on Bondi beach showing a fleet of women willing to drown just so they could touch him, and whether ladies throwing themselves in his general direction was something he has gotten use to, Tommy exclaimed, “no, God no certainly not.”
“I’ve got so much abuse about it over on twitter, it’s very funny but yea, typical that it came the day before me getting myself back in to the Lions team again but a fair bit of abuse for it.”
“I wasn’t the only guy on the beach that day but I mean its just one of those things.” We didn’t see them flocking after anyone else Tommy.
Modest as well… is this love? We think it could be.
We're huge fans of this Subway Famous Fan...
Subway's new subs, flatbreads and salads are available now, containing less than 3g of fat per 100g and one of your five-a-day. Vitamin D and calcium have been added to the breads and the 9-Grain wheat bread is also high in fibre. An excellent healthy option for those on the go.
If it’s good enough for Tommy, it’s good enough for us…
