A user of popular parenting website Mumsnet has sparked debate online by asking whether a woman sunbathing topless in a holiday resort around children is being "inappropriate."
The person did not specify whether they had any children themselves but said that the woman in question had her children with her.
They said they felt "uncomfortable" by the woman.
Their post read:
"We r on holiday in a family resort in sunny country. There is a lady who keeps ending up on the sun loungers opposite us, who seems to enjoy lying topless by the pool everyday. She has a DS (son) who looks about 15, and a DD (daughter) who looks about 5. I think it's really inappropriate to sunbathe topless on a family resort in full view of everyone and right by the toddler pool, and with her own DS (son) around. Am I being unreasonable in feeling uncomfortable and wishing she'd cover up??"The query received over 500 responses. Many said that the user was being "unreasonable" and that there was no reason for them to be uncomfortable. "Eh, yeah.... you're off your rocker to be honest. Have a cocktail and relax on your holiday," read one reply. "What exactly is offensive about her breasts - are they spouting curse words as people go past? I assume you're also offended by any topless man around as well?" said another.
Scrolling through the post's responses, it appears that most people are of the opinion that the sunbathing woman is doing absolutely nothing wrong.
Some respondents even suggested that maybe the user should stop looking if they had such a problem with the sight.
However, there were a few that agreed with the post's sentiments.
One user said that they "wouldn't hugely like someone sunbathing topless in a family resort." This person added that they are "very prudish."
Another tried to argue that there is "sexual arousal associated with" boobs so they should not be on display.
It remains to be seen whether this Mumsnet user has abandoned their previous feelings about the woman's boobs, or if they are still "uncomfortable" about their presence at the resort.‘I’m a 29-year-old woman and my income would shock my friends if it was made public’
