Tragic Exit Planned For Popular Hollyoaks Character

A couple of months ago, Gemma Merna announced that she was leaving her role as Carmel McQueen, a popular character on the Chester based soap Hollyoaks. As the actress prepares to film her final scenes, show bosses have revealed that Carmel will be killed in a car crash. A source told Mail Online: "Carmel's exit from the show is going to be explosive! She's been in the soap for eight years so it was integral that she had a big exit storyline". Gemma Merna plays Carmel McQueen "The crash that is being filmed is costing a huge amount of money and viewers are going to be stunned by the ending, which will see Carmel, Gemma's character, killed in what's billed to be one of the biggest soap story lines the show has ever produced," added the source. "People have been trying to keep this storyline quiet, but it's explosive" continued the show insider. Last week, Hollyoaks cleaned up at the Inside Soap Awards, winning awards for Best Storyline (Patrick inflicting domestic abuse on Maxine), Best Actress (Nikki Sanderson - Maxine) and Sexiest Male (Danny Mac - Dodger).
