The travel hack that will save you serious dosh on long-haul flights

*books flights immediately*

Cathy Donohue

Worth noting next time you’re planning a long distance journey.

Travelling to far-flung lands can get pretty pricey and the general consensus is that booking in advance will get you a good deal.

However, this age-old advice isn’t the only way around it, there’s a hack to help you travel the world without breaking the bank.

One travel expert has shared his key to seeing the world on a budget and we thank Konrad Waliszewski, CEO of Tripscout, for this tip.

According to My Domaine, Konrad believes that splitting your long-haul trip into two flights, rather than going direct will helps slash the final figure.

As we all know, this is a lot more hassle but look you can’t have everything so you either sacrifice comfort and save money, or travel in style and pay the price.

In a post on Quora.com, the travel guru explained the thought process behind this booking method:

“Alternative route travel hacking is the easiest and most reliable (yet rarely used) travel hack out there. I have used it to save thousands of dollars on international flights and to visit handfuls of countries that I might not have had the money or time to visit otherwise”.

He also recommends staying away from travel search engines and doing the ground work yourself as you’re a lot more likely to find the more financially viable options.

Thankfully, he has explained exactly how to do so in a lengthy post and you can read it in full here.
