RTÉ are set to implement further pay cuts according to their Director General Noel Curran.
The television broadcaster, who recently revealed just how much their top earners are taking home, has already cut some of the higher salaries by 30 per cent.
Curran spoke to reporters after talking to students at the University of Limerick.
But Curran told reporters that they are keen to cut some more by up to 40 per cent when contract negotiations take place.
He also said that he understands why the public are concerned about how much RTÉ’s top presenters are earning and explained that it’s up to the station to address the issue.
Pat Kenny and Ryan Tubridy are said to have taken cuts already.
Figures last month revealed that Ryan Tubridy earned over €700,000 during 2011 while Pat Kenny bagged a nice pay packet worth €630,000.
