It's a sad news day, with the passing of acting great Frank Kelly.  In a poignant symmetry, today is also Dermot Morgan's anniversary. Father Ted is a show so embedded in the Irish psyche, that many of the phrases from the series have become part of our vernacular. You'll never guess what it is, Ted. Uses: Slightly obvious use there. Just add in "Ted". 7. Cowboys, Ted! A bunch of cowboys! Uses: Whenever something doesn't work. 8. That's mad Ted! Uses: This is all crazy. 9. But of course, they all have lovely bottoms. Uses: When you are attempting to dig your way out of a very awkward conversation. 10. If you ever say that to me again, I'll put your head through the wall. Uses: For when you are angry. 11. Down with this sort of thing! Careful now. Uses: For any type of protest. 12. You've a lovely voice. Very like Celine Dion! Uses: Whenever you encounter anyone with a lovely singing voice. 13. That would be a ecumenical matter. Uses: Can be used to get you out of any awkward conversation. 14. Who do you prefer? Oasis or Blur? Uses: For all important music questions. 15. The money was just resting in my account. Uses: For anything you are trying to deny. 16. Drink! Feck! Arse! Girls! Uses: To only be used in extreme drunken states. 17. Is there anything to be said for saying another mass? Uses: Surely we haven't exhausted all possibilities. 18. Pat wants to know if he can his massive tool in my box? Uses: For any awkward conversations involving sex. 19. You take off your bra. Uses: Trying to get someone to relax.... 20. These are small but those are far away. Uses: Trying to explain something that somebody just can't get. 21. Will you have a cup of tea, Father? Uses: Well, we just use this one all the live long day.
