Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start - don’t worry! We’ll be brining you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next month.
6. Heat your home naturally
We all know that during the Irish winter, moments of sunshine are usually few and far between. If, however, you suddenly find yourself blessed with a rare sunny day, why not take full advantage of it?
The most natural heating system in the world is the sun and harnessing it’s power can not only help you to save energy in your home but also help you do your part when it comes to saving the environment.
Even if it’s a chilly day, the next time the sun breaks through the clouds, turn off your central heating, open all the curtains in your home and allow the sunlight to filter in through the glass. The heat of natural sunlight is actually magnified when it shines through glass, so don’t be surprised if your home takes on a nice, warm temperature.
Did you know that vitamin D (the vitamin provided by natural sunlight) is an essential for humans? Not only does it keep our skin, hair and nails healthy, it also works as a natural anti-depressant and lifts our moods by making us more positive and happy.
Use the sun to heat your home, save the environment and boost your daily vitamins - all without spending a dime. Perfect or what?
