Twitter’s New Feature Has Brought Us Right Back To Bebo Days

It seems like Twitter is morphing into a Facebook/Insta/Bebo hybrid as users are now able to like things using a heart button. Previously the way to show you approved of a tweet was using the favourite button, which comes in the shape of a star. Simply put, instead of a yellow star, you'll now be using a red heart to show the love and we can't help but think back to Bebo when social media was a lot simpler.* *although to be fair, figuring out who you should share the love with was a very tough task.

Twitter has said that the gold star "confused people" and a statement announcing the change read "you might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favourite".

Discussing the new feature, a Twitter spokesperson read: "The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. "The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it". Twitter's live streaming video app, Periscope uses hearts as a way of allowing users to show that they like a video so the new change isn't really that surprising. Judging by the tweets so far, people don't seem too happy.
