Bobbie Hickey is an extraordinary 16 year old.
She gave an enlivening talk at the recent TedX event in Tallaght where she discussed how she doesn't let her impairment hold her back in life. The teenager was born with a serious visual impairment and has had to undergo over 50 major surgeries, and currently her sight is at around 5%.
This doesn't stop her from striving to achieve her goals or doubting her capabilities. She declared: 'I'm not going to change my perception of my capabilities because of someone else's perception of my capabilities.'
Her attitude in the face of such adversity is inspiring. You can follow Bobbie on Twitter at :@whosbobbie
