This video of flying ants in Tipperary is terrifying

THEY'RE COMING!

Not to alarm you or anything, but… THEY’RE COMING.

The flying ants are back and wreaking havoc on certain parts of the country. We know they’re in Tipperary and parts of Dublin, but it won’t be long before they spread.

The pesky winged insects come out this time of year because of the heat and also for mating season. They mate mid air, then the female drops to the ground to start her own colony.

Contrary to popular belief, there isn’t just one specific day when the ants are out and about, but the end of July/start of August is usually when they’re expected.

And this year it appears they’ve already kicked off their mid air activity with Michael Deehan of Effective Pest Control, telling The Independent that it’s the worst it’s ever been.

“We’re always busy in July and August with these ants but this has been the worst in the last few years. The last two or three weeks we have been inundated with calls from people looking to get rid of them. Conservatories are the worst for them.”

It’s not just the air we need to be concerned about either. This swarm on the ground, spotted by Francis Fitzgibbon in Tralee, is absolutely terrifying.
