WATCH: Irish Mammy Tricked Into Thinking She Won The Late Late Show Competition

She was starting to overheat and everything.... SO MEAN.

Megan Cassidy

You don’t mess with mammies and the Late Late Show competition.

Every single week it’s the same rigmarole. They take out the reading glasses, hold the phone at arms length, ask you to repeat the text number five times, and get a little thrill when they get the “we have received your entry” response.

Every week, they have a “good feeling” about it, and as the clock ticks down to Ryan’s phone call, they start making elaborate plans as to how they’re going to spend it.

When someone else answers the phone, there’s always a remark along the lines of “she’s not even grateful. Hang up and give it to someone else.”

Well, it didn’t go that way in one Waterford household last night.

Instead, poor Bernie Glavin fell victim to an elaborate ruse to make her believe that the €25,000 was hers.

Spotted on JOE.ie, her family enlisted the help of a neighbour to call, posing as RTÉ and ask to speak to Megan, who had text the show on Bernie’s behalf.

Although sceptical at first, there is a fleeting moment where she fully, completely immerses herself in the joy of her win, before it all comes crashing down around her.

SO. Mean.
