Joseph Mary Plunkett died 100 years ago this year.

A poet and journalist, Plunkett was also one of the leaders of the 1916 Rising and was executed for his beliefs on May 4th 1916.

Plunkett and his girlfriend Grace Gifford met in 1915, and were married briefly, newly-wed in the chapel at Kilmainham Gaol just a few hours before Plunkett was executed.

Their tragic love story inspired the song, Grace which was written by brothers Frank and Sean O’Meara in 1985, and has been made famous by the Dubliners and the Wolfe Tones.

This stunning rendition of the song is guaranteed to make all performers of the song proud, as Clare schoolgirl Keelyn Cullie sings the soulful ballad with tone and experience far beyond her young years.”

What an incredible voice.
