Amie Grendon and Deirdre Grendon Wall are two sisters from Co. Meath, that are very talented singers.
Yesterday, they posted a beautiful rendition of The Dawning Of The Day on Facebook in a tribute to those who fought in the 1916 Rising, and woke up today with over 2,000 views on the video and counting.
We were blown away by their version of the classic Irish ballad, and asked Amie why they had chosen this particular song to commemorate those lost in 1916.
"We wanted to express our feelings of gratitude to the memories of everyone who took part in the 1916 Rising and this is an air that we've sung in different guises over the years."
"We felt this version and its lyrics were very true to the spirit of the Rising and what we are commemorating this year. It was a pleasure to sing it together as sisters."
