Weekend Roundup – 10 Things Her.ie Loved This Week

These are a few of our favourite things… for this week at least.

Scents and Scents-ability

The lovely Alison Banton of Brooke & Shoals previously featured on these pages as one of our Irish Women in Business. Since then, we’ve all become obsessed with her amazing candles and fragrance range. So, it was a happy office this week when we took delivery of the latest addition to the collection, a Sandalwood & Precious Amber candle and reed diffuser. We’re already picking up some more as Christmas gifts. Check them out at www.brookeandshoals.ie.

Love in Lyric

Ed Sheeran played a phenomenal four nights in Dublin’s 3 Arena at the weekend and celebrated a fantastic run by releasing his latest track from album X.

‘Thinking Out Loud’ may very well be one of the 23-year-old’s greatest songs to date but it is the hopelessly romantic video that accompanied the beautiful lyrics that had Grace ranting and raving. Sheeran, the one man machine, has learned how to dance and he’s pretty great at it.

A Modern Muse

Michelle is Team Her.ie’s biggest magpie, and that’s saying something in a room full of jewellery lovers. The latest additions to her extensive collection are these gorgeous gold earrings from MoMuse, aka Irish designer Margaret O’Rourke. Check out www.momuse.ie to see more of her beautiful work.

In Style (Her)

Rebecca tells us she is one of those people who considers it an achievement if her hair isn’t all over the place so let’s just say she was very excited when she received an InStyler into the office. As well as curling or straightening, it also adds volume and shine to hair. In fact, Rebecca reckons nobody will recognise her next week when she comes in with her tresses styled!

Get Connected

Mary‘s head has been melted the last few weeks as the black hole that she lives in was unable to get any of the big internet providers. In came 3 to the rescue though and not only is she bopping away with internet but they also threw in a free tablet – how sound was that!?!!

Super Treats

It’s about that same time every week when we gush about how much we love food. Especially cake. And especially free cake. Our pals in SuperValu sent in a hamper of DELICIOUS food this week, but the Belgian Chocolate Cake was especially sinful and pleasurable. There goes the diet… but happiness is more important.

HWCH

Marie took a trip into town on Saturday to check out the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival and was blown away by the great buzz around the city and the high calibre of the acts, with brilliant sets from Hawk, Cloud Colour Lake, Hare Squead and Spies. Platforms like these are essential for emerging talent so massive congrats to all involved.

Girls Who Wear Glasses

Cathy went along to the Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards 2014 on Tuesday and she had a ball. With fashion guru Gok Wan presenting, former Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh performing and plenty of celebrity spotting, it was a night not to be missed. Kimberley’s version of Somewhere from West Side Story was beautiful and a highlight of the event.

A Beat Rebellion

Liz dragged her best friend along to The Academy at the weekend and was blown away by The Boxer Rebellion. Despite some minor tech issues at the start, the band were in fine form and along with a great set and a few pints, it wasn’t long before she was singing along. She definitely won’t be waiting that long before she books more tickets to a smaller gig night.

Think Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so Team Her.ie and our bros in JOE.ie turned pink for a day to show our support. We’re making a company donation to the Irish Cancer Society on behalf of everyone in our snap. To donate €4, text PINK to 5300.
