Ladies, it’s official: men are crap when it comes to buying lingerie. We know it, they know it, hell, the entire world knows it – but despite their lack of skill when it comes to buying ‘unmentionables’ they still continue to drop huge amounts of cash on it.
According to a new survey, over €124million worth of bad lingerie choices remain stuffed in the back of wardrobes or at the bottom of drawers simply because men just don’t have a clue when it comes to buying us underwear. That’s a lot of wasted money, right?
The survey, which was carried out by designer lingerie brand Fox & Rose, revealed that two-thirds of women have received naughty knickers as a present from their other half, and that the average man spends around €50 on underwear each time. However, a whopping one in five women have never worn the gift, and only 23 per cent admit that they had worn it once.
But that’s not all ladies. There are also certain bits of lingerie that we dread receiving from himself. Of the 1,600 women who were questioned, 58 per cent said that they would hate to receive a pair of crotchless panties as a gift from their man. The same number of women also said that they’d hate to get a pair of leather or PVC knickers.
Furthermore, 42 per cent of women live in fear of receiving edible underwear from their man and 42 per cent said they had no interest in getting some fishnets as a pressie.

“For many men, lingerie is a confusing and intimidating world, but it’s crucial they make the right choices if they want smiles rather than slaps on Christmas day,” said Amanda Lorenzani, the co-founder of Fox & Rose lingerie.
“Men should ask themselves, is my partner a fashion trendsetter or a classic dresser? What’s her personality type – wild and dominating or demure and dainty? And of course, the all-important sneaky peak in her lingerie drawer to find out her correct size!” she added.
Have you ever received some dodgy lingerie off your man as a present?
