Add us as a preferred source on Google »Every year, thousands of people across the country go on holiday, and come home owning yet one more magnet.
From scenes of the sun setting over Benidorm to works of art like the Mona Lisa in Paris, a holiday magnet collection is often close to their owner's heart.
However, what you might not realise is that it's not exactly the best idea to whack them all on your fridge when you get home.
Turns out, having a load of magnets on your fridge can actually lead to your appliance malfunctioning.
Newer refrigerators feature sensors on the doors that can come into conflict with the magnetic field from such souvenirs.
They can cause elements that need digital automation, such as ice makers or touch screens, to malfunction.
However, for those of us with fridges that are on the older side, there is less to worry about, as older models tend to not have such fancy features.
Overall, though, you only really need to worry if you are absolutely covering your appliance in souvenirs.
Research suggests this is what can overwhelm some of your fridge's elements, rather than the odd couple of magnets.
