Are you fed up of Ireland’s wintry weather? If so, you won’t like what we have to tell you this morning: a weather guru has predicted that the current freezing temperatures will last right up until the first weeks of summer.
The Irish Sun reports that Ken Ring, a noted long-range forecaster from New Zeland who successfully predicted Ireland’s ‘big freeze’ back in 2010, has insisted that despite the freezing temperatures, we’ll still get that 30C heatwave in July that we’ve been hearing so much about.
Ken, who uses activity in the natural world to make his forecasts, also correctly predicted that March would be the “coldest month” of the year. Oh and he stated that the icy conditions would continue right into May.
“At the start of April spring temperatures will suddenly come, but sub-zeros will briefly return in the second week of April and again between April 29 and May 2, and don’t finally cease until the last week of may,” said Ken.

We can't wait for sunshine and some long, hot days
In his 2013 Weather Almanac for Ireland, Ken accurately predicted the current wintry weather. He wrote: “The month of March will be the coldest month. The third week of March brings some of the coldest temperatures of winter.”
But the good news is that we have a scorching summer to look forward to.
“With the arrival of July also comes a heatwave lasting about ten days with maxiumums expected to reach around 30C. Hot maximums come again from July 19 to 25 and July 28 to 30,” said Ken.
“The best times for summer holidays will be the first ten days of July and the second half of August,” he added.
Well, we guess we’re happy to put up with the cold weather as long as it means we have a smouldering summer ahead of us. It’s been too long since we had a sun-soaked June, July and August!
