Woman Finds Her Anonymous Sperm Donor and Marries Him

Cassie Delaney

This is the stuff of romance movies.

Australian-born Aminah Hart selected Scott Anderson to be her sperm donor because she liked that he described himself as “happy and healthy.”

And while the sperm donation could have remained anonymous, Aminah tracked Scott down through internet searches and knowledge about his career as a cattle breeder.

She made contact through the official IVF register.

After the pair connected, Aminah introduced Scott to her daughter Leila. Scott was not legally required to meet the child but when he noticed the resemblance between her and his other children he couldn’t refuse.

Aminah and Scott met four days after Leila’s first birthday and quickly fell in love.

Now Aminah has penned a book about the experience and the couple has featured in multiple media outlets. Scott spoke to The Telegraph and said:

“Neither of us expected it to happen. I fell in love with Leila before I fell in love with Aminah.”

“It was all odd at the start. But Leila’s beautiful. We arranged to meet once a month. Aminah and I became quite friendly and Leila started calling me Daddy and coming to me all the time.”

Aminah says:

“It was nervous and we were very tentative, but the rapport was really easy. The first thing for me was, ‘phew he’s a nice guy’.”

Aminah had suffered heartbreak in the past. She had conceived two sons with a previous partner but learned that she was the carrier of a rare genetic disorder which affects sons but not daughters. Both of Aminah’s sons passed away.

Their extraordinary marriage has attracted attention from screenwriters, including from Working Title – the creators of Love Actually and Bridget Jones’ Diary.
