Woman left appalled after she was “slut shamed” by an air hostess

Ellen Fitzpatrick

She was pulled aside by the air hostess.

TikTok users have been calling out body shaming and sexist remarks since the app was created, and yet another incident has gone viral.

One user has taken to the app to share her experience with body shaming, alleging that she was threatened off a flight simply because of what she was wearing.

User @sierrasteadman told her followers that she was on an Alaska Airlines flight recently when an air hostess was not impressed by her outfit choice and told her exactly that.

Wearing very normal plane attire, a pair of baggy white shorts and a black crop top, the air hostess allegedly told her that the outfit was inappropriate and threatened to kick her off the flight.

@sierrasteadmanive never felt more degraded, ashamed, embarrassed, angry or sad. F ALASKA AIRLINES!!!!!!! #fyp♬ yeastie girlz x tv girl – ??‍♀️?

Crying in the video, Sierra wrote with it: “I’ve never felt more degraded, ashamed, embarrassed, angry or sad. F ALASKA AIRLINES!!!!!!!”

Along with this, she captioned the clip: “When a flight attendant sl*t shames you in front of the whole plane and threatens to kick you off for what you’re wearing.”

She followed up with another video to explain what happened, saying: “When I got on the plane, she immediately stopped me before I even got to my seat, and told me to zip up my jacket.

“I shook my head like this (nods head) and started to zip up my jacket, and then started to walk to my seat. That should have been the end of that.

“Instead she decided to grab my arm and pull me back, to then start yelling at me in front of everybody. That is where the problem lies. I had no problem with her asking me to zip up my jacket.

“I don’t think there was anything wrong with what I was wearing but if she wants me to zip up my jacket I will.

“But the things that happened after that, especially where she grabbed me, it’s like… this is not okay.”

Upon getting home, her mum decided to write a letter to the airline, who responded saying that they had “failed” and confirmed that they would review the incident.

They said: “You and your daughter should expect nothing less than to be treated with the utmost respect, compassion and care.

“It is truly disappointing to hear that you both did not feel that way during boarding and during the interactions with the Flight Attendant.

“We want to assure you that we take these matters very seriously and have shared your concern with our Inflight Management team that will conduct an internal investigation.”
