Big bums are back and all we need to do is to glance at the latest Nicki Minaj video for confirmation of this fact. Clad in the latest skintight outfit we can see why all the boys are drooling but is this body shape achievable for Irish women? Although Nicki has repeatedly denied reports that her derriére has been surgically enhanced we are beyond skeptical about the possibilities of achieving this shape through a combination of diet, exercise and a very lucky set of genes. Even if Nicki has been pigging out on donuts and burgers we have to admit it is extremely coincidental that every pound she eats goes straight to her bum and not to her lovely slim tummy and perfectly toned arms.
E! Network star Nicole ‘Coco’ Austin is another big-bummed lady who denies ever going under the knife to enhance her behind. She contributes her large butt to bum-focused exercise and even though there is a tremendous difference between the size of her bum in photos from a few years ago and recent shots of the star, she still defends her ‘all natural’ tush.
Although inspired by celebrities, this desire for a large bum is taking over the plastic surgery world and indeed the scarier black market. An American mother of two, Vanity Wonder, has recently published a book about her addiction to butt enhancement. Instead of cashing out for a plastic surgeon, Vanity often resorted to injecting soybean oil, tyre sealant and even cement into her buttocks to feed her desperate desire for a bigger asset. Butt implant procedures are becoming increasingly available in plastic surgery clinics throughout Ireland with many Irish women opting for the procedure.
We can’t help but think these big-bummed celebrities who won’t admit to having surgery are setting an impossible standard for their fans around the world. In our opinion this new craze is impossible to achieve naturally and is it really all that sexy? We would never be tempted to inject cement into our bums no matter how much we want to be fashionable. We know it’s a cliché but it’s better to make most of what we have and if these celebrities won’t admit that they were once mere mortals like the rest of us then they are being terrible role models to all those girls who admire them.
