Now, while we love elaborate marriage proposals as much as the next girl, we have to admit this proposal left us felling a bit appalled. This guy wanted to see if his girlfriend really did love him to death, so he faked a horrific car crash in which he “died” and then got up to pop the question.
Alexey Bykov hired a movie director, stuntmen, make-up artists and even a script writer to help him stage the fake (but incredibly realistic) motor crash. He then planned for his girlfriend, Irena Kolokov, to meet him at the scene of the crash so she would be convinced that he was dead.
Why on earth Alexey felt the need to do this is beyond us, but disturbingly enough, it actually worked and he got the answer that he wanted from Irena.
“We’d arranged to meet at a certain place but when I arrived there were mangled cars everywhere, ambulances, smoke and carnage,” said Irena, speaking about the over-the-top proposal.
“Then when I saw Alexey covered in blood lying in the road, a paramedic told me he was dead and I just broke down in tears,” she added.

Eh, would you say yes if your boyfriend pulled a stunt like this?
While Irena was crying her eyes out, the “dead” Alexey slowly climbed to his feet and proposed to her, while he was still covered in fake blood.
“I was so cross I almost killed him again, but for real this time,” said Irena.
So why did Alexey do such a thing?
“I wanted her to realise how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me,” said Alexey.
The couple have since married since Alexey pulled his stunt, although we can’t say we’d be as forgiving as Irena if a fella pulled this sort of thing on us.
