Yankee Candle issues recall after people report glass shattering

Have you bought any as Christmas presents?

Cathy Donohue

Yankee Candle has issued a recall of their Luminous Collection Fragrance Candles.

As cited by the United Sates Consumer Product Safety Commission, this specific collection has been recalled because of a “laceration hazard”.

The safety body states that “when the candle is lit, the glass jar can crack, posing a laceration hazard”.

A statement also features on the Yankee Candle website:

“Dear Valued Guest,

The Yankee Candle Company, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission, is announcing a voluntary recall of the Luminous Collection candle. We have recently received consumer feedback regarding our new Luminous Collection candles which has indicated that when the candle is lit, the glass jar may crack, posing a possible laceration hazard.

At Yankee Candle we pride ourselves on having the highest standards of quality. Out of an abundance of caution and a firm commitment to safety, we have decided to request the immediate return of all Luminous Collection candles.

This issue is limited to six Luminous Collection candles only.”.

The six candles in question, sold between September and November 2016 are:

1535651: Sea Salt & Coral

1535890: Blackberry & Sage

1535891: Apple Blossom & Melon

1535892: Sugarcane & Honey

1535893: Pine & Sandalwood

1535894: Cinnamon & Cedar

While this might be more of an issue for customers based in the United Sates, it’s worth noting for anyone you know who may have purchased one of the aforementioned candles during this time period.
