Why you should never take an airport picture

Cassie Delaney

If you’re one of the lucky ones, chances are you’re planning a few weeks away in the sun.

Then the date finally rolls around, you get dropped off at the airport and head straight to the Sky Bar for your obligatory social media check in. Sure if you don’t have a Bulmer’s/Guinness/Heineken on your way out, did the holiday even happen?

You square up your boarding pass and pint together and upload the shot. But this, according to a security blog, is a massive massive mistake.

They write:

“Two-dimensional barcodes and QR codes can hold a great deal of information, and the codes printed on airline boarding passes may allow someone to discover more about you, your future travel plans, and your frequent flyer account.”

So bad news there for anyone who has ever taken a flight out of Dublin airport.
