If you’re going to surprise your BFF in the US… THIS is how you do it

Orlaith Condon

Long-distance friendships have become a normality for our generation.

Yes, once the *whispers* recession hit, many of us said goodbye to friends and family.

And it looks like the allure of moving abroad still hasn’t died out. With more and more college graduates making use of the graduate visa, many of our friends are spread far and wide across the globe.

Rachel is just one example of this. Moving to America last year, she hasn’t seen many of her friends since she left home.

Growing up in Donegal, just ten minutes apart, Rachel and her best friend Claire were always joint at the hip before she left for America.

Well, 12 months and countless more Skype calls later, and the best friends were finally reunited thanks to Claire’s decision to surprise Rachel in her new home, Washington.

“Rachel was expecting a visit from her sister, Tanya,” Claire exclusively told Her. “But back in January, I decided to book a ticket and tag along. With Tanya’s help, we planned the ultimate surprise reunion with Rachel.”

And the plan seemed to have worked as Rachel was left visibly gobsmacked when her bestie appeared out of the shadows.

“I hadn’t seen her in a year and we had done everything together before she left,” Claire told us. “So those tears of joy were definitely real!”
