An 11-year-old girl has reportedly given birth to a baby in the UK.
The girl, who has not been identified, reportedly gave birth to a baby earlier this month at 30 weeks. It is believed that both the girl and baby are healthy.
According to reports, the girl's family were not aware of the pregnancy. "It has come as a big shock," a source told the Sun.
"She’s now being surrounded by expert help. The main thing is that she and the baby are OK. There are questions around why people did not know. That is very worrying.”
According to The Express, the case is currently being investigated by child services. It is not yet known whether police have become involved in the case.
Previous to this, the youngest person to give birth in the UK was thought to be Tressa Middleton, who gave birth aged 12 in 2006.
Middleton had been raped by her older brother when she was 11-years-old. Her baby was later taken into care.
