Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
A woman in her 90s has died after a horrifying road accident in Co Clare overnight.
The woman was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed at Annagh, Miltown Malbay shortly after midnight.
Emergency services were rushed to the scene of the accident and the woman was pronounced dead there.
Her body has been removed to Limerick University Hospital where a post mortem examination is set to be carried out at a later date.
The road is currently closed this morning, with local diversions set in place.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. They are particularly appealing to any road users who were travelling on this road at the time with camera footage to make this available to them.
