A man and a 5-year-old boy have died following a road crash in Offaly

A five-year-old boy and a man in his 30s have died in a crash involving a car and an articulated truck in Offaly.

The incident happened at Scrubb, Killeigh in Tullamore at around 5pm on Monday.

The male driver of the car, as well as the young boy, were both fatally injured.

A young girl with “life threatening injuries” was airlifted to Crumlin Children’s Hospital, while a fourth passenger – a man – was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore.

The driver of the truck was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where he was treated for minor injuries.
