Awfully sad.
A newlywed couple in California were enjoying their first photos as husband and wife when a tree came crashing down on the wedding party.
The bride, Patty Mojarro, was accompanied by friends and family for the photoshoot in Whittier’s Penn Park, California. Set among the trees, they were posing for group shots when out of nowhere a huge eucalyptus tree fell on them.
A number of wedding guests managed to escape with minor bruising but the mother of the bride was killed in the incident.
61-year-old Margarita Mojarro was pronounced dead at the scene after the tree was removed by the local fire department. It’s believed the tree fell after it had been weakened in the recent drought.
