National forecaster, Met Éireann, predicts: "Southwest winds are expected to reach mean speeds of between 55 and 65 km/hr, gusting to 110 km/hr at times on Tuesday night".
In addition to strong winds, heavy and persistent rain is expected tonight with the north and northwest set to get the worst of it. Although tomorrow will start out much the same, conditions are expected to improve throughout the day, giving way to "bright spells and scattered showers".
