National forecaster, Met Éireann, predicts: "Southwest winds are expected to reach mean speeds of between 55 and 65 km/hr, gusting to 110 km/hr at times on Tuesday night".
In addition to strong winds, heavy and persistent rain is expected tonight with the north and northwest set to get the worst of it.
