Adnan Syed of podcast 'Serial' is to get a new trial
Adnan Syed, the subject of podcast Serial is to get a retrial.
For anyone not familiar with Serial, the podcast told how Adnan Syed was accused and eventually convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee.
It is believed that the new case will explore a number of issues: Syed's previous legal representation, the alleged misuse of tower cell data and a possible testimony from Asia McClain, a former classmate of both Syed and Hae Min Lee.
According to The NY Times, McClain said she chatted with Syed in a public library at the time Hae Min Lee was murdered.
Syed has been in prison for 16 years, on a life sentence, and Serial examined evidence which was never discussed in his original trial.
Syed's attorney, Justin C. Brown told The Baltimore Sun:
"This is obviously a huge step forward for Adnan. We look forward to our day in court".
