An Irish woman has died after the yacht she was travelling on capsized off the coast of South Africa on Monday.
The 49-year old woman and a 61-year old Scottish man were killed during the incident. It is believed the yacht hit rocks and began to break into parts.
A 66-year old Irish man survived the capsizing and alerted authorities to the incident when he made it to shore. He was the skipper of the yacht.
According to local South African media reports, the yacht was broken into pieces when it hit the rock.
Paramedics confirmed the death of the two passengers after their bodies were recovered at the scene. Their bodies were taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.
The woman had been living in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is providing consular assistance in the case of an Irish citizen who died in South Africa.
