Louise Rennison, renowned author of the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson young adult book series has passed away.

Her series of books following teenager Georgia's adventures included Angus Thongs And Full Frontal Snogging (the name was adapted for the film to 'Perfect Snogging' so not to shock American cinemagoers), and Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me?'

Her work was very influential among many other authors, and she is credited with making her readers more comfortable talking about sex, something she spoke about in an interview with the Yorkshire Post.

“My books get young girls talking,” says Rennison. “And they talk about what they like and don’t like, what they want to do and don’t want to do. It’s not left up to other people, particularly men, to decide. “What’s frightening is that a lot of the pornography online could make young guys believe that they are always in control, that they should be. And that’s dangerous and frightening.

She will be missed.
