The Dublin City branch had been open for over 20 years.

In a statement posted to social media, the food business revealed that its branch located on Camden Street in Dublin City Centre will be shutting its doors on Monday, 2 February.

Zaytoon said the decision was made due to “rising costs and increasing pressures” within the sector.

The chain was founded by Jamshid Kamvar and Azad Shirazi in 2000. Their goal was to “shift perceptions” regarding “the humble kebab”, a “mainstay of Persian cuisine”.

“By insisting on quality and freshness, they succeeded in elevating the dish from ‘after pub fare’, offering a nutritious product and reproducing the vibrant, exotic flavours of their Iranian homeland,” a statement on Zaytoon’s website reads.

Their first location was in Parliament Street in Dublin City’s Temple Bar area, with the Camden Street branch following in 2005.

Confirming the Camden Street spot’s closure, Zaytoon assured its followers that its other branches will remain open.
