It joins the streaming platform’s already extensive catalogue of Studio Ghilbi titles.

The iconic Tokyo animation studio, Studio Ghibli, is set to release its first full length 3D CGI film on Netflix in November.

Earwig And The Witch, tells the story of a headstrong young girl called Earwig, who was abandoned by her mother as a baby and left at St. Morwald’s Home for Children.

Earwig grows up in the home, seemingly enjoying her time there, until one day her life changes dramatically. At 10 years old, she finds herself being adopted by an odd couple against her will and is forced to live with a selfish witch.

Earwig then teams up with a new friend to teach the witch a lesson.

The English-dubbed version features the voices of Richard E. Grant, Vanessa Marshall and Kacey Musgraves.

Netflix shared the news on Twitter, announcing Earwig and the Witch will be available to stream from November 18th.

It also shared an extensive list of other Studio Ghibli titles already on the streaming service such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Pom Poko, and the well-known fantasy film Spirited Away.

“We’re thrilled that our film Earwig and the Witch will reach many countries and territories through Netflix,” said director Goro Miyazaki.

“The film is Studio Ghibli’s first fully 3D CGI film which prompted us with an exciting challenge to reflect the spirit and pride of our studio using this new artform.

“Through that experience we met Earwig, our rebellious protagonist who grows to overcome difficulties with her wits and relentless energy. We hope you will come to love our Earwig, just like you enjoyed spending time with the main characters in our last 21 films.”
