Police searching for DCU student Patrick Halpin have discovered a body.
The discovery was made at approximately 7.50pm this evening in an enclosed area in the vicinity of Burger King and the Zoo Bar off Leicester Square.
According to the Irish Independent a Metropolitan Police spokesperson has said that it was too soon to positively identify the body.
Enquiries are underway to establish the identity of the deceased.
18-year-old Patrick has been missing since Tuesday, having failed to return to his group after leaving the Zoo nightclub.
Reports earlier this evening suggested that the young man was found safe and well at Gatwick Airport. However his father and sister Regina, who had travelled to London to help with the search, received the devastating news a short time later that Patrick was still missing.
The error occurred after the young man's name appeared on a block booking return flight from Gatwick airport, causing belief that Patrick had checked in at the airport.
The student was on a trip to London with the Dublin City University's drama society.
