At least two people are reported to have died and many more injured following two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
The blasts came approximately three hours after the winners of the race crossed the finish line, and were only seconds apart.
Speculation at the moment suggests that the blasts may have come from inside the Fairmount Copley Plaza Hotel, or a sports store located near the finish line.
Multiple news stations are at the scene and footage has emerged showing injured spectators to medical tents set up to cater to finishing participants in the race.
The 26th mile of the marathon was dedicated to the victims of the Newton massacre.
According to the Boston Athletic Association data, 108 Irish runners were signed up for the race.

There are further reports of a “possible incendiary device” at the JFK Library at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, police have asked those using social media to spread the world and tell anyone near by to leave the area.

NBC News is reporting that an eight-year-old child was one of the two people killed in the Boston Marathon blasts. Numbers of injured persons now reported to be more than 80.
