Coppers’ profits from last year will make your jaw drop

All those jagerbombs really add up...

Anna O'Rourke

We’re in the wrong business.

We’ve all been there – “I’m not going Coppers tonight,” you tell yourself over and over. Flash forward to four hours later and you’re twerking like your life depends on it to Westlife in one of Dublin’s favourite nightspots.

Beloved of country lads and lasses (and plenty of Dubs too – they just won’t admit it), it turns out that all those nights where you just ‘ended up’ in Copper Face Jacks really add up.

Accumulated profits for Branagh Catering, the firm behind the venue hit €72 million last year, a jump of €4.38 million from 2015.

This includes pre-tax profits of €5.16 million in 2016, as well as a cash pile of €59.84 million.

The nightclub, which opened in 1995 as part of the Jackson Court Hotel, is owned by former garda Cathal Jackson.

As anyone who’s ever walked down Harcourt Street will know, it’s open seven nights a week and houses six bars, two covered beer gardens, a cocktail bar and VIP facilities.

The love for Coppers really runs deep, so much so that two Tipp lads even immortalised it in song back in September.

The 2 Johnnies ode to the venue, The Coppers Song, is the catchiest song you’ll ever hear about a nightclub. Guaranteed.
