A Dublin teenager has just made it onto the Forbes 30 Under 30 list

Shane Curran who attends Terenure College, Dublin, has made it onto the Forbes 30 Under 30 list alongside the likes of Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown and Dua Lipa.

The rising star won the BT Young Scientist of the year 2017 for his project qCrypt, which he has now turned into a business. qCrypt offers an encryption service for your computer, basically creating encryption for all your personal information and documentation, keeping it safe and resistant to attacks. He said his system will be able to encrypt data and keep it safe for a person until they wish to release it and even until after death, if they desired.

According to Forbes, Curran is expected to make $5 million (€4.8 million) in revenue in 2018.

Over 300 people from across Europe were chosen for Forbes prestigious 30 Under 30. The categories include Technology, Media and Marketing, Law and Policy, Technology, Youngest, Celebrity, Entertainment and Finance.

 

Curran falls into the youngest category at only 17-years-old he is the second youngest in the sector, raising the bar on teenage achievement.
