An elderly couple who were killed in a tragic road accident in Cork has been named locally.

The pair were involved in a multi-vehicle collision on the N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy on August 30th.

They have been named as 83-year-old Pat Allen and his 82-year-old wife Berna (Bernadette) Allen. The couple was from Glenwood. It is believed they were traveling toward Haulbowline Park.

The incident occurred just before 11 am on Tuesday, August 30th.

A car transporter was involved in the collision, as well as four other cars. The fully loaded transporter flipped onto its side on the road.

A driver of a third car was also treated at the scene. Another driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The community in Carrigaline is reportedly heartbroken following the devastating loss.
