Employees At Intel in Kildare Have Reportedly Been Evacuated Following An Incident

It is believed that a large number of employees have reportedly been evacuated from Intel’s Irish plant in Leixlip, Co. Kildare following an incident there this morning.  According to The Irish Independent, the plant received a “phone threat” earlier this morning and though this has not been confirmed by gardaí, they have confirmed that "a premises" in the area was evacuated. The incident is being cited as a "security alert" by other reports. It has not been revealed how many of Intel’s some 4,000 employees were at work when the incident took place. Intel is reportedly advising those who are due to be at work in the company today to check with their managers before coming in. A spokesperson for the company has reportedly stated that it is unclear as to whether the whole site was evacuated or just one building.

AA Roadwatch have reported increased heavy traffic in the area as a result. A spokesperson for the Gardaí has stated that the situation is “ongoing”. _______________________________ UPDATE: It has been reported that the threat made to the company at approximately 6.30am this morning was a "bomb threat". It has recently been reported that workers are now returning to work.
