Do you agree?

Is the world getting a bit too politically correct? Or do you think they have a valid point?

We all know of the recent decision by certain radio stations to stop playing ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’, because of the song’s controversial lyrics.

And now, it seems a trend has been sparked.

This morning, RTÉ DJ Eoghan McDermott called for the the lyrics of ‘Fairytale of New York’ to be censored.

You all know the line we’re talking about…

In fairness, the song has pretty much been on repeat since December 1st, and will be until 2019.

Eoghan made a pretty fair point about the song though.

According to our dear friends over at Joe.ie, the DJ said that the use of the word ‘faggot’ in the lyrics has made some gay members of theRTÉ staff at the feel uncomfortable.

“This debate rolls around again. I asked the two gay members of my team how they feel, since faggot is their N word. If people want to slur the gay community, this is their most powerful weapon.”

“One favours censoring, the other outright not playing it. Neither like it. Simples,” he said.
