A court has heard how a father caught a paedophile by posing as his 10-year old daughter online.
Preston Crown Court heard how Wayne Corkhill told the little girl she was ‘gorgeous’, inviting the child to his home for cuddles while chatting on Facebook.
The predator was unaware he was messaging the girl’s father, who made it clear his daughter was only 10-years old. The court heard that when he was reminded the child’s age, he continued on regardless.
Corkhill, who was on bail waiting to be sentenced for a string of sex offences, pretended his Facebook account had been hacked when he was reported by the father as a sexual predator.
Corkhill was handed down an extended sentence of six years and seven months behind bars after pleading guilty to five charges of sexual activity with a child, plus two of meeting a child following sexual grooming and one of attempting to a meet a child following grooming.
