They’re so pretty too.

Two sisters in Galway have just announced their biggest collaboration ever, teaming up with Disney on their latest venture.

Ailbhe and Izzy Keane run Izzy Wheels, a company that creates colourful wheelchair covers. Izzy was born with spina bifida, spending most of her life in wheelchairs.

These covers have allowed Izzy and other wheelchair users to express their personalities, which inspired them to create a range of their own.

With Ailbhe graduating from the National College of Art and Design, the pair designed their own range and have managed to collaborate with some huge global brands like Hello Kitty, Marvel and Barbie.

But their latest collaboration is their biggest yet, joining forces with Disney to create covers starring some of the most loved characters on these cover, like Frozen, Toy Story, The Lion King and of course Mickey Mouse.

“It’s been my long-time aim to challenge the perception of people who use wheelchairs and encourage people to look beyond the chair,” Ailbhe, who is the chief executive and creative director of Izzy Wheels, said.

“I want people to feel that their wheelchair is an extension of their personal style and a form of self-expression, which is why Disney is a fantastic partner.”

The company are doing one better than just creating these covers, but they have announced that 10% of the profits made from this specific range will go to Whizz-Kids, which is a charity in the UK that aims to transform the lives of disabled children.

They have also said they will help Disney’s Make-a-Wish project but designing customisable wheelchair covers.
