Gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses following the assault of a man in Tallaght yesterday evening.
As RTÉ reports, a man in his 40s was found unconscious and with what looked like head injuries at a playground in Tallaght's Mac Uilliam estate at around 11:40pm.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and an ambulance took the man to Tallaght Hospital before he was subsequently transferred to Beaumont.
His condition has been described as serious.
The scene of the assault has been closed to allow for a forensic examination to take place, and the authorities are appealing for any witnesses, including those who may have dash cam footage, to reach out.
Anyone with information is being asked to call Tallaght Garda Station on 01-666 6000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
