Your wallet looks set to get a bit lighter, as the Government is reportedly planning to abolish one cent and two cent coins.
According to The Irish Independent, the coins cost more to mint than they are actually worth and a trial scheme in Wexford has been considered a major success.
If introduced, all prices would be rounded to the nearest 5c at the cash register and the smaller coins will be discontinued.
A similar scheme has already been introduced in Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Hungary, with the rounding said to make "no real difference to the consumer".
