Health Minister Leo Varadkar was caught up in an armed robbery yesterday as he canvassed with supporters in West Dublin.
The minister and his team were entering a shop in Castleknock to buy items before canvassing when two men, armed with a sword and a gun, fled the scene following a supermarket heist with a small sum of cash.
The incident took place at a Spar in Carpenterstown at around 7pm.
Gardaí confirmed that two armed men entered the shop, before leaving on foot with a sum of cash.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
