A Garda investigation has been launched after the discovery of a 78-year-old woman’s body in suspicious circumstances yesterday.
According to RTÉ, the body of Rose Hanrahan was found at her home in Thomondgate, Limerick at around 1:30 pm yesterday afternoon when a relative called to her home.
It’s thought that Rose met a “violent death” with a post-mortem due to take place later today.
Reports suggest that Gardaí are pursuing a line of inquiry that suggests Rose’s home was burgled but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
It’s also thought that she may have been strangled.
A source spoke to The Mirror:
“The poor lady was tied up and the house was ransacked”.
Rose’s husband Mike passed away five years ago and at the time of her death, she was living alone.
