Her family immediately took her to A&E, where she was given strong antibiotic cream for her lips and antihistamines.
"It's not an experience I would ever wish on anyone," the teenager told the publication.
"The reason I went to the hospital was because I couldn't breathe.
"My blood pressure was very high as well."
Rachael's older sister Bronagh has urged anyone who has bought knock-off makeup to throw it out as they can't know what ingredients they might contain.
"This could have ended up with a fatality if not treated as soon as it was, this didn’t just affect the lips but also the whole face and closed over the back of her throat," she said.Explore more on these topics:
